SURVIVING AN ACTIVE SHOOTER WITH ADS

School Security has become an extremely hot topic over the past few years. With school shootings happening in multiple states and with greater frequency, you must ask yourself, “is my school safe”? With absolute no disrespect to School Superintendents and Security teams, the simple answer is, probably not.
Many States will not permit School Resource Officers, “SROs” or any other type of armed security on the school property. The shooter in Nashville did some recon and her primary targeted school did have an SRO, so she went to Plan B, a school that had no security. Both kids and teachers were murdered. Now, there is no one solution fix for making sure everyone will survive an active shooter at a school. However, at American Defense Solutions, we have specific products and measures that will increase the chances of survival.

ARMORPRO® BALLISTIC DOORS

Our Armorpro® Ballistic Doors look like any other door in your school. However, in an active shooter situation, our doors become an impenetrable barrier between the shooter and your classroom. No bullet, sledgehammer, prybar etc., will penetrate our doors. We have one of the only doors that are certified for the “15-minute breach” by the Department. of State and Department of Defense.

ADS SECURITY WINDOW LAMINATE

ADS Security Window Film is a transparent film that is installed on the interior side of the glass windows. Depending on Levels 1,2 & 3, Level 3 stops a 9mm and up to a .45 Caliber handgun from penetrating the glass. Again, as in Nashville, where the shooter shot out the glass with a 9mm and walked straight into the school and began shooting. ADS Security Film would have prevented the 9mm from penetrating and held the window intact…no way she was getting through that entry point.

ARMORPRO® BALLISTIC BULLET BOARDS

Generally installed between the walls, these bullet boards can be installed on the interior and painted to look however you want. For example, for kids in Pre-K through 3rd Grade, they can be painted to look like a school bus or train where everyone has an assigned seat. Having safety drills has the kids run to their designated place in the bus where they are out of the harm’s way.

HOW WILL YOU SURVIVE AN ACTIVE SHOOTER?

With our Level III Security Film, the bullets likely would not have penetrated the glass making her entry through those doors virtually impossible. Even after being shot with a rifle caliber, such as a 5.56 (AR 15) the glass would  remain intact and would hold up to an aggressive attach such as bats, rocks, and bricks.
